The Bostick Heart Center at Winter Haven Hospital provides comprehensive care for your heart by an experienced team of cardiologists, cardiac surgeons, nurses and other healthcare professionals. Whatever the need—heart surgery, emergency or elective angioplasty, heart attack care, heart failure care, recovery care—the Bostick Heart Center’s team provides a wide variety of high quality services to meet the heart-health needs of our community.

Our open-heart surgery program, opened in October, 2005, recently completed its 1200th open heart surgery! But, numbers aren’t the only important measure of our success. According to the Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS), the organization that tracks the quality data of the country’s most elite open-heart programs, the data from our program has earned it the coveted “3 star” designation – the highest possible rating! It also places the Bostick Heart Center’s heart surgery program in the top 10-15 % in the nation!

Our Cardiac Cath Lab offers 24/7 services in order to provide the emergent treatment necessary that stops a heart attack in its tracks! Open since 1988, the Cath Lab provides testing to document (or rule out) heart disease as well as a number of minimally invasive treatments (stents, pacemakers, etc).

Our nursing units offer every level of cardiac care, including:

• 8-bed state-of-the-art Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) for care after heart and vascular surgeries
• 12-bed Cardiac Interventional Unit (CIU), our cardiac ICU to care for patients after complex cardiac procedures as well as patients with other serious heart problems (a heart attack or heart failure, for example)
• 32-bed Cardiovascular Unit (CVU), designed for those patients with complex cardiac needs that do not require ICU level attention
• 16-bed Cardiac Observation Unit (COU), designed for those patients with suspected heart problems

Our Non-Invasive Cardiology Department provides diagnostic tests that help physicians better evaluate and diagnose heart problems. Electrocardiograms, echocardiograms, and stress testing are just a few of the services provided to in- and outpatients.

Our Cardiac Rehabilitation program offers services to patients during as well as after hospitalization. Patients in the hospital are supported by experienced nurses who educate them about cardiac diagnosis, treatment options and secondary prevention. After hospitalization, our outpatient cardiac rehab staff work closely with physicians to offer a 12-week program of monitored exercise therapy, comprehensive education and psychosocial support—all critically important to a fast and successfully recovery!
