Center for Diabetes Staff

Leadership Team for the Medical Surgical Diabetes Center (MSDC)

Christopher D. Miller, MD, medical director

Dr. Miller is an endocrinologist with Bond Clinic in Winter Haven and is board certified in internal medicine, endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism. He has been a member of the medical staff at Winter Haven Hospital since 2003. Dr Miller attended Georgetown University School of Medicine and had a fellowship in endocrinology and metabolism at Emory University School of Medicine. He was an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Emory for two years and served as a staff physician at The Emory Clinic and Emory University Hospital.

Veronica Isaac, RN, BSN, manager

Veronica graduated from University of Central Florida with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2004. She has been an employee of Winter Haven Hospital since December 2001 and began as a Nursing Assistant. After obtaining her RN licensure she has worked in the Medical Intensive Care Unit, Surgical Intensive Care Unit, Post Anesthesia Care Unit, and Ambulatory Surgical and Diagnostic Center.

Veronica received Level II recognition from the Clinical Rewards Program in April 2008. In addition, she has been an active participant in the Patient Safety Committee, MAGNET Champion, Nursing Procedure Committee, Employee Council and is currently the co-chair of the Education Practice Council. As a team member of the Center of Diabetes, she works collaboratively with physicians and members of an interdisciplinary team who are committed to proactively improve and maintain treatment of diabetes within the organization as well as the community.

Veronica is dedicated to compassionate and innovative patient care and considers nursing to be not only a profession but also her calling in life.

Jasmine Blocker, RN, BSN, supervisor

Jasmine graduated from Bethune-Cookman University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2004. Immediately after graduation Jasmine became an employee of Winter Haven Hospital where she began her career on the Medical Services Unit. Later, she served as charge nurse for four years on this unit. Jasmine has been a Certified Medical Surgical Nurse since October 2007 and received Level II recognition from the Clinical Rewards Program in 2007 and 2008. Jasmine is an active participant in organizational committees at Winter Haven Hospital, including the Infection Prevention Team, Evidence Based Coaches, and Staff Development Work Group.

Jasmine’s goal as a nurse is to ensure the provision of outstanding patient care that is full of compassion, innovation and trust.

Patricia Ann Northcutt, RN, BS, resource nurse

Patricia has over 30 years nursing experience within various specialties. She became an employee of Winter Haven Hospital in 2008 and has attributed her previous nursing knowledge and patient education experiences to instruct diabetes patients regarding all necessary aspects of diabetes self-management. Her steadfast commitment is to ensure that all patients receive exceptional care and that they obtain the empowerment needed to appropriately manage their diabetes.

Joanne Vaccaro-Kish, RN

Joanne is a registered nurse and has been a certified diabetes educator (CDE) for more than 15 years. Before joining the team at Winter Haven Hospital, Joanne was the program manager for a multi-site diabetes education program at the University of South Florida’s College of Medicine. Joanne has planned education programs for adults and children with diabetes as well as professional education programs in diabetes for physicians, nurses and other health care professionals and students. She is also certified as an insulin pump trainer.

Joanne believes that with support and information, people with diabetes can become independent in their diabetes management. Taking charge of diabetes and partnering with providers and diabetes teams can help prevent the complications.
