Emergency Services

Emergency Departments are responsible for the recognition, evaluation, treatment stabilization and disposition of patients presenting with medical emergencies. Levels of care range from assessment and treatment of minor illnesses and injuries to the initiation of advanced life support measures.

Our goal is to provide accessible, compassionate, comprehensive, high quality acute health care to patients of all ages. Winter Haven Hospital’s Emergency Department is a 33 bed facility that includes a 4 bed minor emergency area. Averaging approximately 50,000 patient visits per year, we provide a wide range of services and have a well developed community referral network for services that can not be provided at the time of your visit. The availability of on site diagnostic services including radiology, lab, CT, ultrasound and MRI allows us to expedite patient care while reducing the need for unnecessary transports. The introduction of a fully electronic medical record allows all caregivers unrestricted access to your current and past history. Physicians and nurses can review this information in the patient care area, thus improving safety and patient identification processes.

All of our ER physicians are University of Florida College of Medicine staff.
