Family Health Care at Winter Haven Hospital

Winter Haven Hospital offers excellent health care options to families for primary care, emergency care and outpatient surgery. It is our mission to provide the highest quality and most effective care and services. Our seven Family Health Centers, improved Emergency Department, and convenient Ambulatory Surgical and Diagnostic Center (ASDC) are part of that mission.

At our Family Health Centers, complete and comprehensive care is available for the whole family, including children two years-of-age and older. Basic x-rays and most laboratory tests can be performed at each center. Other services include physical exams, immunizations, minor surgery and routine gynecological exams. There are seven Family Health Centers, located for convenience to your home or work: three in Winter Haven, and one each in Auburndale, Bartow, Haines City, and Lake Wales.

The Emergency Department implemented systematic improvements after the partnering with the University of Florida College of Medicine/ Shands Healthcare. Improvements included an electronic charting system, digital X-rays, quicker lab test results and a more effective triage system.

The 25,000 square foot Ambulatory Surgery and Diagnostic Center (ASDC) combines security and confidence for outpatient surgery patients with it’s location on the second floor of the hospital above the Emergency Department. The procedures performed at our ASDC are within a vast array of specialties, including orthopedics, neurology, plastic surgery, urology and endoscopy. Amenities include spacious pre-op and recovery areas, private consultation areas, a beeper provided to waiting family members, and one-stop lab and x-ray testing.

Winter Haven Hospital is serious about patient satisfaction. We are proud to share this information. All of the following survey data was collected by Quality Data Management, a national quality improvement firm. Results of the survey are compared to other hospitals in the country.

Family Health Centers: In the 1st Quarter of 2011 (January through March) the overall satisfaction of patients with our doctors was 94.68% and 97.97% of the patients surveyed stated they would definitely recommend their Family Health Center doctor to others.

Emergency Department: In April 2011, overall satisfaction with our ED was 80.84%, a significant increase in satisfaction from 68.86% in April 2007.

Ambulatory Surgery and Diagnostic Center: In the 1st Quarter of 2011 (January through March) the overall satisfaction of patients having outpatient surgery and diagnostic tests in our outpatient surgery center scored at the top of the QDM national database with 94.49%.
