Center for Psychiatry

Center for Psychiatry Staff

The Center for Psychiatry (CFP) of the Winter Haven Hospital, Inc. provides psychiatric hospitalization and treatment in a comfortable lake front setting for up to 30 adults, ages 18 and above. Board certified Psychiatrists lead an interdisciplinary treatment team in the provision of comprehensive care. Treatment is recovery focused to engage the person in order to achieve treatment goals and improve functioning at home and in the community upon discharge. The treatment team addresses psychiatric as well as co-occurring medical and substance use issues that may be affecting the person and ensures that follow up care is arranged prior to discharge.

Patients may be directly admitted to CFP through referral of their personal physician or be assessed in the Emergency Department to determine necessity for inpatient care. Once admitted they receive intensive services in semi-private rooms in a secure setting that includes nursing care, individual, group and family counseling, psychiatric evaluation and medication management, and therapeutic art and recreation activities. All care provided at CFP is based on the Winter Haven Hospital Professional Model of Care and Jean Watson Caring Theory that is widely accepted nationally by professional nursing associations.

You may contact our Access Line, 800-723-3248 for assistance 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. A counselor is available at all times to assist you in determining if you need inpatient care. CFP accepts most major insurance plans as well as Medicare and Medicaid.
