About the Float Pool:

Nurses in the Float Pool work in various areas of the hospital, depending on their individual education and experience. The Float Pool has a variety of shifts to offer. All employees in the float pool must have at least one year of (recent) hospital experience in the capacity for which they are hired.

Common skills utilized:

The skill level required depends on the unit(s) where a nurse is floated to. We typically consider 2 categories: ICU/CVU and AMCU/Med/Surg/Telemetry.

Care extenders used:

The float pool employs RN’s, LPN’s, CNA’s, HUC’s, IV Team Nurses, Orderlies, and Admission nurses.

Selling points for Unit:

The Float Pool always works around school schedules. We have a variety of patient care assignments. Opportunity to gain experience in many different areas.
