Typical pt diagnosis:

Post stroke (we are a JCAHO & CARF Cert Stroke Center); brain injury, spinal cord injury, amputation, orthopedic conditions, neuromuscular disorders, debilitated post-op patients (i.e., open heart)

Common skills utilized:

PICC lines, bladder scan, intermittent catheterizations, PEG tube feedings, accuchecks

Most common meds / those nurses must be familiar with:

Lovenox, Coumadin, Insulin, antidepressants, oxycontin, oxycodone

Care extenders used:

CNAs and Nurse Care Techs (CNA w/ extra skills)

Certification for Differential:

CRRN (Certified Rehab RN), thru the Association of Rehabilitation Nurses (ARN)
