Shared Governance Team

“In August 2006, a Nursing Shared Governance Team was formed consisting of 13 staff RNs representing 13 different areas of the organization. The accomplishments of that team exceeded all expectations. In 2007, the Nursing Shared Governance Team added members from more areas. The PCQIC (Patient Care Quality Improvement Council) was then formed and includes nurses working in every area of the organization. The goals of that group are to understand, communicate, and improve patient care processes.
The Shared Governance Team:
Created the Nursing Vision for Winter Haven Hospital – The nurses of Winter Haven Hospital promote excellence through theory-driven evidence based practice to achieve quality patient outcomes.
Designed and published the Winter Haven Hospital Model of Professional Nursing Care Delivery.
Developed and implemented a clinical ladder for RNs – The REWARDS program which will be highlighted later in this report.
“Working closely with the nursing shared governance team has been an unbelievable experience, they have participated in helping make very important decisions affecting their peers and their work environment.”
