November
Regular Checkups
Part
of living well with diabetes means getting regular checkups.
There is no
time like the present to review with your health care professional
the tests you should be given and how best to manage your condition.
How often you see members of your health care team depends on your
overall health, your blood glucose goals, and any changes that need
to be made in your diabetes care plan says the American Diabetes
Association.
Your check
up should provide your health care team with information about your
height, weight blood pressure, pulse, eyes, mouth, gums and teeth,
neck, heart, abdomen, kidneys, hands, feet, skin and nervous system.
Know
the symptoms of diabetes!
* frequent
urination
* excessive
thirst
* extreme
hunger
* unexplained
weight loss
* extreme
fatigue
* irritability
* recurrent
skin, gum, vaginal or bladder infections
* blurred
vision
* tingling
or numbness in the hands or feet
