Those
of us fortunate
to have had
the
opportunity
to serve the
community's
healthcare
needs, for
many years,
appreciate
the remarkable
support the
community has
given to have
a quality hospital.
In 75 years
we have come
from a time
when: cataract
surgery and
gallbladder
surgery required
months of recovery,
x-ray machines
were only beginning
to be available
in
the largest
hospitals in
major cities,
the only effective
drug available
for life threatening
infections
was sulfa,
the family
doctor was
called on to
diagnose and
treat literally
every injury
and condition,
and the average
life expectancy
for Florida
residents was
55 years. Today,
we have imaging
machines and
scanners capable
of providing
non-surgical
views into
the human brain
and heart,
providing three
dimensional
displays of
the living
organs in action,
medical tests
so accurate
they can pin
point the risk
of life threatening
disease years
before physical
symptoms would
be manifested
or discovered,
major surgery
performed and
patients returning
to work the
next day. During
this time our
facilities
and services
have grown
to meet the
ever increasing
needs of the
communities
we serve. In
addition to
the Winter
Haven Hospital
campus we now
provide care
through the
Regency Medical
Center, Lake
Wales Medical
Centers, Good
Shepherd Hospice,
the Gill Jones
building, the
Sweet Center,
First Care
and our Family
Health Centers.
We look forward
to continuing
to serve our
community in
a quality manner.

W. Anastasio,
