Construction
has begun to
create a new
central energy
plant and emergency
services facility
at Lake Wales
Medical Centers.
The new central
energy plant
will be located
on the West
side of the
medical center.
This $2.5 million
expansion will
house efficient
new chillers
for air-conditioning
and emergency
generators,
providing additional
capacity and
sufficient
infrastructure
for future
renovations
of Lake Wales
Medical Centers.
The central
energy plant
is expected
to be complete
in January,
2003.
The new $3.2
million emergency
services facility
will be located
on the North
end of the
campus and
will be accessed
directly from
11th Street.
This new, state-of-the-art
facility will
more than double
the size of
the current
emergency department
to 15,000 square
feet. The new
emergency services
facility will
have 14 individual
treatment areas,
all of which
will have access
to the latest
cardiac monitoring
equipment.
A newly installed
elevator will
directly connect
the facility
to the second
floor of the
current medical
center where
the new Intensive
Care Unit is
planned to
open in January,
2004. Ample
parking to
the North will
be available
for easy access
to the facility.
The new emergency
services facility
is scheduled
for completion
in Spring,
2003.
