Donald L. Clark, M.D. Family Medicine
Have you ever needed a doctor when you are sick and had to wait months to get an appointment? Have you ever wondered what kind of health issues should be routinely checked for a person your age? Have you ever had a health question and no health professional to ask?

If you have answered yes to any or all of these questions, then you need a family doctor. TodayÕs family doctors are specialists in family practice. The specialty of family medicine is centered on lasting and caring relationships with patients and their families. Family physicians specialize in caring for the physical, mental and emotional well being of their patients and their families as well. We know how your familyÕs health history and situations can affect your health and this is taken into account when we are caring for you.

Family physicians are trained in all major medical areas and can diagnose and treat the full range of problems people bring to their doctors. We know when to treat you and when to bring in another specialist that you can trust to provide continuity in care and treatment. A family physician understands that you are not a collection of parts, symptoms or conditions, but a unique individual. Family physicians are trained to care for the whole person throughout all the stages of your life.

Family practice doctors are knowledgeable on most of the current treatment modalities and available technology. We are required to recertify our education more than any other medical specialist. This promotes applying the latest medical breakthroughs in the daily care of our patients. Our training includes preventative medicine and our belief is that the prevention of a health problem is much more desirable for our patients, than overcoming a preventable health issue.

Winter Haven Hospital has established a network of family physicians throughout Polk County who are all board certified in the specialty of family medicine. Collectively these offices are known as the Family Health Centers with offices located in Bartow, Haines City and Winter Haven. We provide comprehensive care to all people from ages two years and older. When you are sick, we are usually able to see you within 24 to 48 hours. We practice preventative care and are up to date on the most current treatments and recommendations for care. Most importantly, we are here to listen to you, answer your questions and to respect your priorities.
