Babysitting Training

This class teaches safety, accident prevention, handling emergencies and how to be a responsible babysitter.
For young people ages 11-16.
Space is limited, so call early.

Building Better Bones
For women and men of all ages, this 2-part class will give you the tools to build better bones and lessen the damaging effects of osteoporosis.  Includes the disease process, nutrition, medical management, and exercise.  Presented by
Winter Haven Hospital's Regency Medical Center and Outpatient Rehabilitation Services.
Dates: March 4 and 11, 2004
Time: 5:30 PM - 7:30 PM
Where: Regency Medical Center Classroom, Winter Haven
Fee: $20.00 includes reference notebook and bone-healthy refreshments.

Improving Your Standing Balance
Posture, strength and stability can influence your standing and walking balance. This program can educate
you in how to decrease your risk for falling.

Week 1 Education on the components of balance
Reasons for having balance difficulties
Rate you balance
Instruction on how exercise will help
Week 2 Participation in simple exercise program demonstrated by therapist
Week 3 Progression of exercise program and introduction of single Tai-Chi movement
Week 4 Exercise completed and information on how you can continue

Incontinence And Back Pain
Failure to control bowel and bladder function may be accompanied by back pain. This program is designed to
help you recognize the relationship between your pelvic/abdominal muscles and control of incontinence.
Week 1       Education on why back pain and continence may  be related.  Identify if this is your problem.
Self assessment test for pelvis floor and back strength.
Week 2 What you can do.  How to improve your muscle control.  Beginning Exercise program.
Week 3 Follow up progression of exercises.

Living With Diabetes
A four-week course including an overview of diabetes, meal planning, self-blood glucose monitoring
awareness of complications, and dealing with stress.
Dates: First four Wednesdays of each month
Time: 1:00 P.M. - 3:30 P.M.

Fee: $25.00

Lung Disease Education
Winter Haven Hospital's Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program offers free community education lectures.  These informative topics are focused on those people who have or are associated with lung diseases and are taught by professionals who invite your questions.  Sessions are about one hour in length starting at 11:00 A.M. and are held at the VFW Hall, 231 East Lake Avenue, Auburndale.  Also available: an individual rehabilitation program for people afflicted with Chronic Lung Disease.  Therapies and instruction, accompanied with your physician order are provided by a multidisciplinary staff.  Approved by Medicare and most major insurance companies.  Location:  Winter Haven Hospital.

Sage-ing Workshops
The purpose of these workshops is to help participants become Spiritual Elders.  A Spiritual Elder is someone who focuses on personal growth and gives back to their family and community.  We learn about the joys of elderhood
and the skills necessary to make our elder years meaningful and fulfilling.  The workshops will include:
