News > 2008The Annual Quest for the Cup: 100 Holes of Golf Challenge
May 1, 2008
The 100 Holes of Golf Challenge is Polk County’s Premier Spring Charity Event. This year, the event raised a whopping $201,485!
The 2008 edition of the tournament affectionately know as “The 100” was on Thursday, May 1, at the Lake Region Yacht and Country Club. Eight teams of golfers played 100 holes of golf, challenging friends and colleagues to support them for each hole played. The tournament reached a new record this year by raising a total of $201,485, bringing the three year total to over $375,000! All proceeds support Winter Haven Hospital’s Stroke Center, the only Primary Stroke Care Center serving Polk, Highlands and Hardee counties.
The cocktail party during and following the tournament was truly an evening to remember. Guests raved about the ambiance of the party. The Lake Region Clubhouse was transformed into a chic Miami club scene complete with human disco balls, live jazz by Turtle Soup, lit glass front bars, and hand rolled cigars. The end of the tournament was marked by a bagpiper leading in the teams to their final hole followed by an awards ceremony and an amazing fireworks display.
The evening was incredible and a party not to be missed. However, if you were one of the few who missed out on the fun, mark your calendars to join us spring 2009 for the 4th Annual 100 Holes of Golf Challenge!
This year’s team sponsors included the Charter Team, led by the original four members of “The 100”; Winter Haven residents Pete Cassidy, Joe Jensen, Dwain Hughes and Randy Clark, Mary Myers Realty, Center State Bank, Tucker Paving, State Farm, Condev Homes, Morgan Stanley and The Saterbo Family.
Congratulations to this year’s winner of The 100 Cup: Tucker Paving.
