At Winter Haven Hospital

VOLUNTEER - "Caring is Sharing"
With a total of 888 beds, Winter Haven Hospital cares for more than 430,000 patients each year. Serving central Florida since 1926, the Hospital now has campuses in two locations . . . the Regency Medical Center and Winter Haven Hospital. Specialty services include cardiac care, neurosurgery, orthopedics, women's medicine, dialysis, cancer treatment, psychiatry, physical rehabilitation and many other areas.
Winter Haven Hospital is the cornerstone of one of Florida's largest locally owned and operated healthcare networks, Mid-Florida Medical Services. It is dedicated to outstanding personalized healthcare and excellence in medicine.
Volunteers come from all age groups - teenagers through retirees - and from all walks of life and varying professions: teachers, business people, nurses, homemakers and students. They all have in common their own "special" skills, experience and willingness to help and comfort patients as well as provide support for Hospital Staff.

A Tradition of Service
The core of our Volunteer Services is the Winter Haven Hospital Auxiliary which provides financial support, direction and leadership. Since 1938, the Winter Haven Hospital Auxiliary has contributed thousands of hours of valuable service. The Auxiliary has also donated more than $812,000 to help finance Hospital building projects, purchase new equipment and sponsor healthcare related programs. These contributions will continue to grow as an example of the Auxiliary's continued support of the Hospital's mission.
The Winter Haven Hospital Auxiliary is a vital and integral part of the Hospital team. The Auxiliary operates the Hospital's Gift Shops located at Regency, Winter Haven Hospital, and Gil Jones Campus: and a "Gift Cart," a mini-gift shop which allows patients the convenience of shopping from their room. The ongoing service of the Auxiliary touches the lives of manyÉpatients, visitors, physicians and employees alike.

Getting Involved
The Volunteer Services' 700-plus membership ranges from 14 to the 90's. Training is provided in Service Assignments and each Volunteer becomes acquainted and familiarized with Winter Haven Hospital and the Volunteer Services Department by attending a comprehensive orientation program.

Lend Your Heart, Soul and Warmth
Anyone who has an interest in helping others is qualified. And because Winter Haven Hospital has two campuses, there are volunteer opportunities at the Regency Medical Center and Winter Haven Hospital. Hours are flexible, too. Winter Haven Hospital has a special place and a rewarding job just for you.
